DC cancels all March convention plans

Coronavirus concerns have affected yet another industry.

DC has canceled all of its March convention plans due to growing concerns of the threat of the coronavirus. This includes Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle Washington, which saw just shy of 100,000 people in attendance in 2019.

Washington State is a hotbed for the coronavirus in the US, with nine confirmed deaths and 27 confirmed cases of the virus.

“As the health and safety of our employees are always our primary concerns, DC staffers will not be attending conventions during the month of March,” DC told The Hollywood Reporter. “Future convention attendance will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, factoring in the latest information from a variety of organizations, including the CDC, WHO, U.S. State Department and local health agencies.”

Less than a week ago the yearly GDC (Game Developers Conference) was fully postponed for the first time in its 31 year history of operation due to coronavirus concerns.
