Microsoft, Valve, and HP are combining their efforts to produce the new next-generation virtual reality (VR) headset. An official product page is now up on the HP website, with more information to come down the line. The new headset is christened the “HP Reverb G2.”
Further details are sparse, but a short teaser trailer, including a glimpse of the headset’s design, can be found on HP’s Twitter account.

No launch date has been announced, and with the current state of the world, it makes sense to refrain from providing a specific date until we have a better understanding of how to counter COVID-19.
With the next generation of consoles on the not-so-distant horizon, it makes sense for Microsoft to enter the VR landscape. Both Valve and Microsoft have tested the VR waters, with Valve’s Index VR kit (currently in use with Half-Life Alyx) and Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality. Most notably, rival Sony has its own VR alternative in the form of Sony’s PlayStation VR.
Developed in collaboration with Valve and Microsoft, the next-gen HP VR headset delivers a more immersive, comfortable and compatible experience than the previous generation. It’s the new standard in VR.
